Women's Bowling Competed at Lewis Flyer Classic

The women's bowling team competed in the Lewis Flyer Classic this past weekend.  Overall, QU finished in 9th place with a 5-7 record.

Friday was 5 Five Game Baker Matches.  The Hawks went 1-4 with a win over Dominican and losses to #20Lewis, Kentucky Wesleyan, Carthage and #13Maryville.

Saturday was 5 Traditional Team Games and QU went 2-2. Due to the odd number of participating teams, the Hawks had a bye during game 4.  The squad had victories over Carroll and Illinois Wesleyan while th losses came to UAB and Valparaiso, and only fell by 12 points to UAB. Individually, We were led by Jessica Lad who finished 22nd with a 183.2, and Carolina Alvarado who finished 30th with a 176.6 average.

Sunday was a three match, best of seven baker bracket with seeding based on total pinfall from the two previous days.  The Hawks started in 10th position and lost to #9 seed Kentucky Wesleyan. QU then beat #11 seed North Central and #7 seed Carroll to finish in 9th place.

"This competition was a step up in the level of quality teams that we have faced this year since the first tournament of the season.  I feel the ladies did a good job of bowling through adversity and learning to compete against top level teams." Head Coach Nicholas Bohanan said.
