MARYVILLE, MO. – The Quincy University track and field team competed in their first meet of the 2020-21 season on Saturday (Jan. 16) at Northwest Missouri State. The Hawks ran well in their first action of the year and had five athletes finish in the top-10 in their respective events.
First year sprinter,
Antonio Laidler, had the top finish for the Hawks on the day after running a 6.92 in the 60-meter dash. This was good for third place out of 47 entries.
Another freshman started their collegiate career with a solid finish for Quincy. Lauderhill, Florida native,
De'Andre Cornwall, finished in 7th place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.61.
Senior,
Athena Lesiotis, finished in the top-10 with an 8th place finish in the 800-meter event on Saturday. Lesiotis finished with a time of 2:29.84.
Jalon White took 9th place in the men's 800-meters after running a 1:58.40, and
Ouekie Wright took 10th in the 600-meter race with a final time of 1:14.71.
