QUINCY, Ill. - Quincy University junior
Blake Arnold has been named the QU Toyota Star of the Week after a standout performance at the Dan Salisbury Memorial last week at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur, Illinois.
The Liberty, Illinois native and transfer from Danville Area Community College tied for first place out of 87 total golfers in the tournament field. Arnold carded rounds of 69 (-3) and 72 (E) for a two-round total of 141 (-3), finishing as one of three golfers tied atop the leaderboard.
Arnold's opening round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole. He also added five birdies and nine pars on his way to a 69, tied for the lowest round of the tournament.
In the second round, Arnold remained consistent and again found a way to go low, recording an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole. He also totaled three birdies and nine pars during the round to finish with an even-par 72.
Arnold's strong finish helped lead the Hawks to a second-place team finish out of 14 schools, as Quincy finished just three strokes behind tournament champion Illinois Springfield.
Arnold and the Hawks will return to action for their final regular season tournament on April 3-4 when they travel to Waterloo, Iowa to compete in the Upper Iowa Invitational.
