INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Hawks to a pair of statement victories to close out the 2025-26 campaign,
Tiernan Stynes has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Stynes powered Quincy to wins over Lewis and Indianapolis, averaging 23.0 points per game while delivering one of the most efficient two-game stretches of his career. The junior guard shot a blistering 18-of-26 (.692) from the field, going 9-of-13 in each contest. He knocked down seven three-pointers at a 50 percent clip and was perfect at the free throw line (3-for-3).
In the Hawks' 72-60 victory over Lewis, Stynes posted 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and went 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. He added 10 rebounds to secure his third double-double of the season, along with three assists and two steals. His presence on both ends helped Quincy snap a lengthy skid against the Flyers and build momentum heading into the regular-season finale.
He followed that performance with 26 points in an 83-82 road win over Indianapolis. Once again shooting 9-of-13 from the field, Stynes caught fire from deep, burying five three-pointers on nine attempts. He calmly converted all three free throws in a one-point contest while adding eight rebounds and two assists to seal the road victory.
Across the two wins, Stynes totaled 18 rebounds (9.0 per game), five assists, and two steals, showcasing his all-around impact. His scoring efficiency and rebounding presence were instrumental in helping the Hawks close the season on a high note.
The award caps what was truly a breakout sophomore campaign for the Australia native. Stynes led the Hawks in scoring at 15.4 points per game while averaging 5.8 rebounds (third on the team), 2.4 assists (third), and 1.0 steals per game, which also led the squad. He shot 49.2 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from three-point range, and 80.0 percent from the free throw line. Stynes paced the team in total points, field goals made, three-pointers made, and total steals, emerging as Quincy's most consistent offensive weapon throughout the season.
This marks Stynes' first career GLVC Player of the Week honor and makes him the second Hawk to earn the distinction this season, joining freshman
Ethan Bolton, who received the award on January 20.
The Hawks conclude their 2025-26 season with momentum and will now shift their focus toward regrouping and preparing for the 2026-27 campaign.
