Quincy University Hawks

2025-26 (Sophomore): Stynes put together an unbelievable breakout season for the Hawks, emerging as one of the top three-level scorers in the GLVC. He was one of three Hawks to appear in and start all 28 games, averaging a team-leading 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and a team-best 1.0 steals per game across 32.9 minutes per contest.

Stynes shot 49.2 percent from the field, which ranked third in the GLVC, while leading Quincy in made field goals and ranking 10th in the conference in that category. He also shot 37.3 percent from three-point range, leading the Hawks in made threes, and 80.0 percent from the free throw line. Stynes scored in double figures 23 times, reached 20 or more points eight times, led the Hawks in scoring nine times, and recorded three double-doubles. His season-high came against Maryville (2/19/26), when he scored 27 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

2024-25 (Freshman): Stynes appeared in 19 games as a true freshman, starting the final four contests of the season. He averaged 3.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

Stynes scored a season-high 13 points in the season finale against Indianapolis (3/1/25). He also recorded his first double-digit rebounding game against Maryville (2/22/25), pulling down 10 boards, including four offensive and six defensive rebounds.

Personal: Tiernan comes to Quincy from Point Cook, Australia. Stynes was a member of the Nunawading Spectres before coming to Quincy, a team that is a part of the NBL1, a semi-professional basketball league in Australia. He is the son of Samantha Stynes and the Late Jim Stynes. Jim was a part of the AFL and was the first and only non-Australian-born VFL/AFL player to win the Brownlow Medal.
