ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Hawks erupted for a season-high 93 points and rode a career night from
Tiernan Stynes to a road victory over Maryville inside Moloney Arena.
Hot shooting and a late first-half surge helped Quincy build a 12-point halftime lead, while timely defense and a 38-35 rebounding edge allowed the Hawks to hold off the Saints down the stretch.
Stynes paced Quincy with a career-high 27 points on 8-of-11 shooting, leading four Hawks in double figures. He also pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
Camren Kincaid added 14 points and a season-high eight assists, while
Ethyn Brown and
Preston Brewer each finished with 10 points. Brewer's performance marked the first double-figure scoring game of his career.
Quincy seized control midway through the opening half, using an 8-for-13 shooting stretch to build a 21–13 advantage through the first 12 minutes.
Jakeb Wallingford sparked the run with five quick points, and Brown contributed an early steal on the defensive end.
The Hawks extended the lead in the closing minutes of the half behind two three-pointers from
Lorenzo McMillion and a perfect 3-for-3 effort at the free-throw line from
Owen Duff, taking a 48–36 lead into the break. Quincy shot 57.6 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes while holding the Saints to 38.2 percent shooting.
Maryville trimmed the deficit to six early in the second half, but Quincy responded with a decisive run midway through the period. A three-pointer from Stynes, followed by a 2-for-2 trip to the line, pushed the lead back to 12 at 69–57 with under eight minutes to play.
The Saints were unable to draw closer down the stretch as Brown and Stynes converted key free throws in the final minutes to seal the win.
Quincy finished the night shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from beyond the arc, connecting on 7-of-15 attempts from three-point range, while outrebounding Maryville 38–35. The Saints shot 39.7 percent (29-for-73) from the floor and 31.3 percent (10-for-32) from deep. Maryville's Evan Palmquist led all scorers with 34 points on 13-of-23 shooting, adding five rebounds and one assist.
