Gartrell Makes History as First Hawk Named GLVC Men's Golf Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Quincy University men's golf freshman David Gartrell etched his name into the program record book this week, becoming the first Hawk in program history to be named GLVC Men's Golf Player of the Week following a standout performance at the Vegas Warrior Invitational.

Competing at The Legacy Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada, Gartrell helped lead Quincy to a fourth-place finish in a 10-team field. The Charlotte, North Carolina native turned in one of the top individual performances of the tournament, finishing third overall out of 59 golfers.

Gartrell opened the three-round event with a strong 69 (-3), setting the tone early before following with rounds of 72 (E) and 73 (+1) to finish with a 214 (-2) total. Across the tournament, he tallied 14 birdies and 29 pars, consistently keeping himself near the top of the leaderboard.

His performance not only powered the Hawks' team success but also marked a historic milestone for the program, earning Quincy its first-ever weekly honor from the Great Lakes Valley Conference on the men's side.

Gartrell and the Hawks will look to carry the momentum forward as they return to action at the UIS Invitational on March 23-24.
