Hawks Snap Road Skid at UIndy with Thrilling 83-82 Finale Victory

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Quincy University men's basketball team closed the 2025-26 season in dramatic fashion Saturday afternoon, edging the University of Indianapolis 83-82 inside Nicoson Hall. The Hawks shot an efficient 51 percent from the field and knocked down 12 three-pointers, led by Tiernan Stynes' 26-point performance.

The victory snapped a seven-game road losing streak against the Greyhounds, marking Quincy's first win in Indianapolis since 2010.

Indianapolis jumped out to a quick 10-4 lead behind a pair of early triples, but Stynes found his rhythm early, knocking down a three to cut the deficit to 10-7. The Greyhounds pushed their advantage to six over the next several minutes, but Quincy stayed within striking distance thanks to hot perimeter shooting, trailing 25-19 midway through the half.

The Hawks responded with an 18-10 surge over the next six minutes, shooting 8-for-13 during the run and grabbing their first lead at 37-35 with 4:25 remaining after Stynes buried his third three of the half. The teams traded baskets down the stretch before Quincy carried a 44-42 lead into the locker room.

Indianapolis shot 48.6 percent in the opening half compared to Quincy's 47.1 percent, but the Hawks' eight three-pointers provided the difference heading into halftime.

The opening minutes of the second half were sloppy for both teams, as each committed three turnovers, but Stynes stayed hot with five early points to keep Quincy in front, 50-49.

The Hawks then erupted on a 10-2 run over the next two minutes to build their largest lead of the game at 60-51, with four different players contributing. Quincy maintained a 6–8 point cushion over the next eight minutes while Indianapolis kept pace by attacking the foul line. The Hawks held a 78-70 advantage with 5:30 remaining.

UIndy answered with six straight points to tighten the contest, and the teams traded possessions down the stretch. A wide-open dunk tied the game at 82 with just over a minute to play. After both teams missed go-ahead opportunities, Jakeb Wallingford stepped to the line with two seconds remaining and made one of two free throws. Indianapolis' final shot at the buzzer missed, sealing the 83-82 Quincy victory.

Quincy shot 51 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from three-point range, and 70.4 percent from the free-throw line, all higher than Indianapolis' marks. The Greyhounds struggled at the stripe, converting just 57.7 percent and missing 11 free throws. Quincy held a 35-31 rebounding edge. Turnovers kept Indianapolis within reach, as the Greyhounds converted 19 Quincy turnovers into 28 points.

Stynes led all scorers with 26 points and added eight rebounds. Ethan Bolton contributed 13 points, while Camren Kincaid and Ethyn Brown each added 11. Kincaid also recorded three steals and surpassed 500 made field goals for his collegiate career. Indianapolis placed four players in double figures, led by Carmelo Harris with 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting.

With the win, the Hawks finish the season on a two-game winning streak and conclude the 2025-26 campaign at 12-16 overall and 7-13 in GLVC play, finishing 12th in the conference standings. Quincy suggests momentum heading into the offseason as the program prepares for the 2026-27 season.
