Hawks Trade Blows with No. 24 Missouri S&T in Road Loss

ROLLA, Mo. – The Hawks faced a tough road test on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Gibson Arena to take on the No. 24-ranked Missouri S&T Miners. Despite multiple pushes and strong offensive performances, defensive lapses down the stretch proved costly as Quincy fell 83–74.

The opening 10 minutes were tightly contested, with Quincy holding a slim 16–15 advantage. Ethan Bolton sparked the Hawks early, knocking down a three-pointer during the opening run and scoring 10 points in the first 10 minutes. Turnovers began to creep in, however, as Quincy committed three during the stretch, allowing the Miners to stay within striking distance.

As the first half progressed, neither team was able to create separation. Ethyn Brown connected on his first triple of the game to pull the Hawks within one, 30–29, with three minutes remaining. Tiernan Stynes provided an offensive boost during that span, scoring 10 first-half points with a pair of three-pointers and a mid-range jumper. Missouri S&T closed the half on a 9–2 run to take a 39–31 lead into the break.

Quincy shot 12-of-30 (40%) from the field and 4-of-12 from beyond the arc in the opening half, while Missouri S&T went 15-of-33 (45.5%) and connected on six triples.

Owen Duff looked to ignite the Hawks early in the second half, knocking down two three-pointers to bring Quincy back within six. Early turnovers again hurt the Hawks, allowing Missouri S&T to push the lead back to double digits. With 10 minutes remaining, the Miners extended the advantage, though Camren Kincaid buried a triple to keep Quincy within reach heading into the final stretch.

The Hawks continued to battle from deep, as Stynes connected on his third and fourth three-pointers of the game. However, Missouri S&T remained efficient on the offensive end and capitalized at the free-throw line late to secure the 83–74 victory.

Quincy finished the night shooting 25-of-58 (43%) from the field, while Missouri S&T shot 50% (31-of-62). The Miners held a 37–30 rebounding advantage, though both teams collected nine offensive rebounds apiece. Quincy shot 73.7% from the free-throw line compared to Missouri S&T's 71.4%, while the Hawks went 10-of-25 from beyond the arc and the Miners finished 11-of-24.

Bolton led Quincy with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, recording his third 20-point performance of the season. Stynes followed with 16 points, while Kincaid and Jakeb Wallingford also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Brown narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and a season-high eight assists. Missouri S&T was paced by its two leading scorers, Andrew Young and Blaise Beauchamp, who finished with 22 and 16 points.

Quincy returns home to Pepsi Arena on February 12, welcoming Lincoln Blue Tigers for a 7:30 PM tipoff following the women's game. The Hawks earned a 65–60 road victory earlier this season in Jefferson City against the Blue Tigers.
