QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's volleyball team delivered a dominant performance Saturday night inside Pepsi Arena, sweeping Kentucky State University 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-17).
The Hawks controlled the tempo from the opening serve, hitting an efficient .382 while piling up nine service aces and limiting Kentucky State's offensive opportunities throughout the straight-set victory.
How It Happened
Set 1
Quincy wasted no time establishing control. An early run gave the Hawks a 10-3 advantage, highlighted by two early kills from
Ryne Jacobsen, and the offense never looked back. Quincy hit .455 in the frame while holding the Thorobreds to .200 en route to a commanding 25-12 win.
Set 2
The Hawks' momentum carried into the second set as Quincy continued to dictate play. Balanced production from Jacobsen,
Travis Mendoza, and
Malachi Allen fueled a 15-5 lead. Kentucky State was unable to mount a sustained rally as Quincy closed the set 25-14 to take a 2-0 match edge.
Set 3
The final set featured tighter action early, with Quincy holding a narrow 13-10 advantage midway through the frame. The Hawks responded with a decisive run, highlighted by timely swings from Jacobsen and Allen that extended the lead to 20-13. A
Malachi Allen service ace helped create further separation as Quincy sealed the sweep with a 25-17 victory.

Quincy finished with 39 kills while hitting .382 as a team, adding nine service aces and holding Kentucky State to a .033 hitting percentage.
