How It Happened

The Hawks pushed their advantage to 22-13 midway through the first half behind three-pointers from Bolton and
Tiernan Stynes. The Tritons answered with a run of their own and took their first lead at 29-27 on a three-pointer from Taye Moore.
Wallingford, Kincaid, and Stynes converted late in the half to keep Quincy within striking distance, but UMSL closed the period on a decisive 12-0 run to carry a 42-30 lead into the break. Quincy shot 42.3 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes and went 3-of-11 from beyond the arc.
The Hawks chipped away in the second half, cutting the deficit to six at 58-52 with just over six minutes remaining. Kincaid sparked the run with a perfect trip to the free-throw line, back-to-back baskets, and a steal that led to a Stynes three-pointer.
UMSL answered with timely field goals and perimeter shooting, pushing the lead back to 13 inside the four-minute mark. Quincy was unable to close the gap down the stretch as the Tritons capitalized in transition to secure the 74-64 decision.
