QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team is officially headed back to the postseason. Following a dominant 6-0 victory over Lincoln University on Sunday afternoon, the Hawks have clinched a berth in the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women's Soccer Tournament, marking their second consecutive appearance and the 23rd in program history.
Quincy (7-3-6, 7-2-4 GLVC) is playing some of its best soccer of the season at the perfect time. The Hawks have rattled off three consecutive victories, outscoring their opponents by an impressive 16-1 margin during that stretch. Their latest performance against Lincoln featured a first-half hat trick from Rebecca Rheinheimer, three assists from Jessie Newton and a commanding offensive display that saw Quincy find the back of the net six times.
While the Hawks have officially secured their place in the eight-team conference tournament, there is still plenty left to play for as the regular season approaches its conclusion.
With one match remaining, Quincy currently occupies fourth place in the GLVC standings with 25 points, trailing Missouri-St. Louis (32), McKendree (28) and Missouri S&T (26). The Hawks hold a narrow one-point advantage over fifth-place Maryville (24), while Rockhurst (19) remains in the hunt with multiple matches remaining.
The top four teams in the conference standings earn the right to host a GLVC Tournament quarterfinal match, putting the Hawks in position to potentially bring postseason soccer back to Legends Stadium for the second consecutive season.
Quincy also holds a valuable advantage in the race for home-field advantage, owning the tiebreaker over both Maryville and Rockhurst should the Hawks finish level on points with either program. However, with several conference matches still to be played, the final tournament seedings remain far from settled.
The Hawks will have an opportunity to strengthen their position on Wednesday, October 21, when they travel to Kirksville, Missouri, for their regular-season finale against Truman State. A victory over the Bulldogs would push Quincy to 28 conference points and significantly bolster its chances of securing a top-four seed and another postseason match on its home turf.
With a postseason berth already secured and momentum building behind three straight wins, the Hawks now turn their attention toward finishing the regular season strong and putting themselves in the best possible position for a GLVC Tournament run.
Kickoff between Quincy and Truman State is scheduled for 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 21, in Kirksville, Missouri.
