QUINCY, Ill. – Evan Sweeney has been named the QU Toyota Star of the Week following a standout performance at the Snowbird Open, hosted by Illinois College, on Saturday.

The junior thrower from Aurora, Illinois, competed in both the shot put and weight throw, turning in personal-best marks in each event. Sweeney claimed first place in the shot put with a career-best throw of 14.89 meters, while also setting a new personal record in the weight throw with a mark of 16.10 meters, earning a third-place finish.

Saturday's meet marked Sweeney's third competition of the indoor season, as he continues to show steady improvement with each outing.

Sweeney and the Hawks will return to action on January 30–31 at the Principia Relays in St. Louis, Missouri. Competition begins Friday at approximately 2:00 PM, with day two set for a 9:00 AM start at the Crafton Athletic Center.
