QUINCY, Ill - Quincy University sophomore Jack Thompson has been named the QU Toyota Star of the Week after a record-breaking performance that propelled the Hawks to a third-place finish at the Frigid Bee Invite, hosted by St. Ambrose University on Saturday. The meet marked Quincy's first indoor competition of the season and featured a 12-team field.

A native of Golden, Illinois and a graduate of Camp Point Central High School, Thompson delivered one of the strongest individual outings in program history by shattering two school records in the field events. He captured first place in the long jump with a school-record leap of 7.10 meters, then followed with another victory in the triple jump after soaring 14.75 meters, an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, which broke the previous school record in the event.

Thompson's two wins were worth 20 points toward the team total and served as a key factor in the Hawks' overall performance in the field events.

Thompson and the Hawks will return to action on January 17 when they travel to Maryville, Missouri, for the Coach Alsup Invite Open.
