Springfield, Ill. – The Quincy University men's cross country team opened its 2025 campaign with a strong showing at the 10th Annual Prairie Stars Invitational, where the Hawks turned in several record-breaking performances. Quincy finished 9th out of 11 teams with 220 points while showcasing a young roster making its mark early.
Freshman
Justin Kappner led the way, setting a new program record in the 5K with a time of 24:01.45, marking the best performance in school history. Fellow freshman Joseph Warning also made a mark, finishing his 7K in 24:36.99, the second-fastest time ever recorded in program history.
Sophomore Owen Weinfurther (25:48.49) placed eighth all-time, Vincent Olson (26:05.60) seventh all-time, and junior
Austin Haskins (26:38.23) ninth all-time in the QU record books.
Freshman
Oliver Moore finished third on the team with a career-best 25:43.77, while freshmen
Logan Sutton,
Jude Mintle, and
Logan Meyer also contributed.
John Damm rounded out the team scoring with a 27:11.12 finish.
