Hawks Picked Fourth in 2025 MSFL Sprint Football Preseason Poll

QUINCY, Ill. - New hope, new dreams, and new wins — the 2025 Men's Sprint Football campaign is upon us. The Quincy University sprint football team enters the season with optimism and determination as they look to rise in the Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) standings.

In the annual MSFL Preseason Poll, the Hawks were projected to finish fourth, tallying a total of 18 points in the voting. While the poll positions Quincy in the middle of the pack, the Hawks are motivated and ready to exceed expectations.

Offense:

The 2025 season marks a new era for the Hawks, as Kirkland Burton takes over as head coach in his first year at the helm. Burton, who was promoted from within the program, brings a fresh energy and a deep understanding of the team's culture and expectations. His task is straightforward: guide the Hawks into contention in a competitive MSFL slate.

Offensively, the Hawks return several proven weapons who will be counted on to set the tone early. Senior quarterback Deuce Allaway is expected to lead the charge with his experience and leadership under center. His go-to target, senior wide receiver Nasir Carson, provides a big-play threat in the passing game, giving the Hawks a reliable option downfield. In the backfield, running back CJ Jackson is poised to carry the load on the ground, balancing the offense with his ability to pick up tough yards and break off explosive runs. Together, this trio forms the backbone of the Hawks' offensive attack.

As Burton begins his journey, the Hawks are determined to establish veteran leadership with youthful talent and build momentum throughout the season. With a new voice at the top and key returners ready to step up, the Hawks aim to climb the MSFL standings and make their mark in 2025.

Defense:

Defensively, the Hawks boast key returners who will anchor the unit. Junior free safety Thomas Murray Jr. leads the secondary with his ball-hawking ability and experience, while senior defensive lineman Noah Getz provides toughness and stability in the trenches. Their presence will be critical in the MSFL competitive conference play.

The MSFL slate promises to be competitive once again. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) was tabbed as the preseason favorite, followed by Calumet College of St. Joseph at No. 2 and Bellarmine at No. 3. Quincy was predicted to finish fourth. Still, with veteran leadership, emerging talent, and a chip on their shoulder, the Hawks believe they can outperform expectations.

Quincy opens its 2025 campaign on Saturday, September 13, when it travels to face Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in a critical early test.

With new leadership, a potent mix of veterans and newcomers, and the determination to prove doubters wrong, the Hawks are poised to make plenty of noise in the MSFL this fall.

MSFL Preseason Poll:

  1. SMWC (3)       32 Points
  2. Calumet (2)     31 Points
  3. Bellarmine       23 Points
  4. Quincy (1)       18 Points
  5. Midway            15 Points
  6. Oakland City     6 Points
