Quincy, Ill. - The Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) announced it's players of the week for week 6 on Tuesday (Oct. 22) naming
Noah Getz as the Defensive Player of the Week as well as
CJ Jackson as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Getz earned the DPOTW honor after leading the Hawks defense with eight total tackles, six of them the solo variety, as well as two assists along with 0.5 a tackle for lost yardage as part of a QU defense that held Oakland City to just two touchdowns in a 42-14 victory on 10/19.
CJ Jackson started the game off at wide receiver where he made four catches for 42 yards before transitioning to running back where he went for 66 yards and a score but his biggest feat of the day, a 70-yard punt return to the house for six earned the Starkville, MS native the MSFL Special Teams Player of the Week.
Getz and Jackson become the first Hawks of the season to earn MSFL Player of the Week honors. Joining them was the MSFL week 6 Offensive Player of the Week, Jeremiah Tosky, QB of SMWC.
The Hawks await their fate this upcoming weekend as a showdown between Walsh and Midway will determine if QU makes the MSFL Playoffs. A Walsh win would boost Quincy into the postseason while a Midway victory would spell the end of the 2024 campaign.
