Box Score ST. CHARLES. Mo. - The Hawks resumed their MIVA schedule at Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 15) dropping a four set match to the Lions at Hyland Arena (19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 20-25).
Aleksandar Sosa led Quincy with 16 kills, while
Relja Milosavljevic added four blocks and four aces.In addition,
Armaan Dosanjh directed the offense to the tune of 40 assists, good for his four straight match with 40 or more after recording 47 assists in the Hawks' previous match against S&T on 3/13, which was a new best for the Sydney, Australia native in his time at Quincy.
Set One
The Hawks used a pair of Lions service errors and a Milosavljevic block to take a 3-1 lead to open the set. LU was able to even the tally shortly after at 6-6 before using a run of five scores three points later to push in front 12-8.
Later in the set, another five-point run for Lindenwood put QU in a tough spot down 20-11 heading down the stretch. Quincy showed signs of late life, outscoring the Lions 8-5 to close out the set, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit in a 19-25 first set loss.
Set Two
QU took the initiative early in the second set, claiming five of the first eight points. Six of the next eight points went in favor of the Lions to find the Hawks trailing 7-9, until a three-point run shortly after deadlocked the score at 13-13.
An LU error and Sosa kill knotted things at 19-19, prompting a run of three from Lindenwood to press ahead late in the set. A
Barnabas Fenyvesi kill and an error pulled QU back within one at 21-22, before the Lions took three of the final four points to close out a 25-22 win in the second set.
Set Three
Quincy jumped out to a 7-4 advantage to start the set, maintaining a lead until  back-to-back scores for LU tied it up at 10-10. Later in the action, the Lions used a three-point run to take their first lead of the set 14-12.
Just as the Hawks looked in danger of losing their grasp on the set, swings of two and four points power QU back out in front 20-17 heading down the stretch. Lindenwood wasn't able to creep any closer than two points the rest of the way, as a
Tomas Badan kill gave the Hawks a 25-21 victory in the third set.
Set Four
QU found itself in a frustrating position in the final frame of the match, never leading, but remaining well within striking distance from wire-to-wire without finding the spark it needed, as the largest deficit of the set was just five points, which happened to be the final, 20-25.
The Hawks never trailed by more than three points up to the 17-19 mark, where a pair of LU scores made it 17-21, and set the Lions up to take the set.
