Hawks Earn Three Champions and Six More Podium Finishes at Ottawa Open

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Quincy University women's wrestling team continued its strong start to the 2025–26 campaign with an impressive showing at the Ottawa Open this past Saturday, hosted by Ottawa University in Wilson Field House. The Hawks earned three individual championships and six additional podium finishes, displaying both depth and high-end individual performances across multiple weight classes.

Quincy's three champions came at 110, 124, and 138 pounds. At 110, Trinity Pendergrass delivered a complete performance on her way to a 4–0 record, with two falls, a 10–0 tech fall, and a 10-4 decision to secure the championship. At 124, Sereena Baca put together a dominant 4–0 day, two falls and a tech fall on her way to winning the title. Rounding out the title-winners was Julia Chambers, who was outstanding in her 4-0 championship run, picking up two falls and a tech fall in the first minute of her matches before closing her finals match by forfeit.

The Hawks' six additional podium finishes featured strong efforts from all weight classes. At 160, Elanna Hickman earned a third-place finish with a 4–1 day that included two falls, a decision, and a tech fall. Mackenzie Graves secured 5th at 103 by going 3–2, winning all three of her matches by fall or tech fall. Trinity White took 4th at 207 with two falls in her five matches, while Siobhan Rogers finished 6th at 145, earning three wins by fall.

Valeria Rodriguez posted a 5th-place finish at 145 with two falls and a tech fall, and Madisynn Crawford added a 6th-place finish at 180 behind a pair of falls. Rounding out podium scoring at 160 was Sophia Sosa, who went 2–2 with a tech fall and a 36-second pin.

Quincy showed strong progress in match efficiency as well, racking up fall and tech-fall victories throughout the lineup, including rapid-pins from Chambers (0:43), Phillips (0:57), Graves (1:06), Rodriguez (2:06), and White (1:54), among others.

The Hawks will return to the mat on Saturday, November 15, when they travel to Decorah, Iowa, to compete at the Luther College Open.
