ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Quincy University men's cross country competed at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships on Saturday, hosted in Romeoville, Illinois. Facing one of the deepest fields in the region, the Hawks battled through challenging course conditions to earn a 12th-place team finish in the competitive 8K championship race.
Freshman Joe Warning continued his impressive debut season, leading Quincy with a time of 28:09.44 to place 123rd overall. His performance ranks fourth all-time in program history for the men's 8K distance. Vinny Olson followed close behind, clocking 28:36.82 to finish 132nd, which stands as the eighth-fastest 8K time in school history.
Sophomore Owen Weinfurtner was right on their heels with a 28:56.23 for 135th place, while freshman Justin Kappner turned in a solid effort at 29:07.18 to take 137th. Junior Austin Haskins rounded out Quincy's scoring lineup, finishing 147th with a 29:53.30.
Also competing for the Hawks were freshmen Oliver Moore 30:00.26, 148th, John Damm 30:07.01, 149th, and Logan Meyer 32:08.07, 153rd, along with junior Jude Mintle 30:30.78, 151st.
Up Next:Â Quincy will look to carry its momentum into the postseason when the Hawks travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday, November 8. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Wayne Dannehl Cross Country Course.
