Hawks Capture First Tournament Title Since 2010 at Bearcat Dual Gender

CASEYVILLE, Ill. – The Quincy University men's golf team closed out its fall season on a high note, capturing the team title at the Bearcat Dual Gender Tournament in Caseyville, Illinois, hosted by McKendree University. The Hawks delivered a consistent three-round performance of 308–286–297 (891) to secure first place in a competitive nine-team field. Three Quincy golfers finished inside the top 10, highlighted by sophomore Griffin Taylor, who claimed the individual title. The championship marks the Hawks' first tournament victory since 2010, adding an exclamation point to a strong finish to the fall season.

Griffin Taylor led the charge for the Hawks with a standout performance. After opening with an 80, he bounced back in spectacular fashion with a five-under-par 67, highlighted by 11 pars, six birdies, and just one bogey. He capped off his weekend with a steady 72 to earn medalist honors and notch one of the best performances of his collegiate career.

David Gartrell turned in a strong and consistent showing, starting with a 77 before finding his rhythm in round two with an impressive 70 that included three birdies and 14 pars. He closed with a solid 74 to finish tied for third place, adding to Quincy's dominant effort.

Glenn Sutton rounded out Quincy's top finishers, opening with a 74 before carding a red-hot 69 in round two that featured six birdies and nine pars. He wrapped up the event with a 77 to finish tied for sixth overall, contributing key points toward the team victory.

Jack Driscoll added depth to the lineup with rounds of 74, 69, and 76, finishing tied for 26th and helping solidify the Hawks' first-place finish to close out the fall season in style.

Blake Arnold delivered a solid showing for the Hawks throughout the tournament. He opened the event with a round of 80 before facing some challenges in round two, carding an 83. However, Arnold bounced back impressively in the final round, firing a 75 to help Quincy secure the team title.

With the Hawks' victory at the Bearcat Dual Gender Tournament, the Hawks wrapped up an impressive fall campaign filled with growth, consistency, and standout individual performances. Quincy's balanced lineup and competitive edge throughout the season showcased the program's depth and potential heading into the spring. The Hawks will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for championship play in 2026.
