Biography

2024-25 (Junior): Taylor saw action in all nine tournaments for the Hawks, where he golfed 23 rounds and had an average of 77.4 strokes per round. His top finish came during the Konzem-Capra Invitational, where he finished tied for tenth.

2023-24 (Sophomore): In his second season, Griffin was the lone Hawk to golf in all ten tournaments, for a total of 23 rounds. In those 23 rounds, Taylor had an average of 78.3 strokes per round. Griffin had a first-place finish at the Wildcat Fall Classic, where he shot even with 144 strokes. He also had a top-five finish in the Klash of Kentucky, where he finished fourth, shooting a 151 (+7).

2022-23 (Freshman): Taylor participated in six tournaments as a freshman, which totaled 15 rounds. He averaged 78.7 strokes per round, and his best finish came during the Culver-Stockton Invitational, where he finished third place after shooting a 151 (+7). Taylor also had a top-ten finish in the Quincy University Invite, where he tied for seventh place.

Personal: Taylor travels south to join the Quincy golf team, as he is from Macomb, Illinois, where he graduated from Macomb High School. A multi-sport athlete, he was named First Team All-Conference in baseball during his junior and senior years and earned All-Conference honors in golf as a sophomore, junior, and senior. His contributions helped the golf team qualify for the Class 2A State Tournament for three consecutive years (2019-2021) and led the baseball team to a Class 2A Regional Championship in 2021.

Individually, Griffin achieved a career-best tournament round of 66 (-5) and was part of a historic Macomb High School golf team that broke every school record. His team’s success earned them a prestigious invitation to the National High School Golf Association (NHSGA) Invitational at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.

Off the course, Griffin is supported by his mother, Margaret Taylor, and brother, Drew. He enjoys cooking and playing PlayStation in his free time and is a fan of Tiger Woods and Aaron Rodgers, as well as the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs.
