WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Hawks concluded a busy week at the Central Missouri hosted Roger Denker Open, their third competition in the last eight days; sending four wrestlers to the podium, led once again, by
Kaden Rios-Loud and his fourth place finish in the 125 division. Other podium finishers included
Lucas Clement and
Easton Norris in 157 as well as
Maxim Ryner in 197.
Rios-Loud opened the day with a loss to Garrett Steidley of Central Oklahoma by fall before going on a run in the consolation bracket, winning his next four matches. The first, a 57 second fall over Beau Reyes in first round consolation action before taking a 15-10 decision over Cilus Cabral of Central Methodist in round two.
Next was a 46 second fall over Aden Sanders of Central Oklahoma to send Rios-Loud to the consolation semifinal, which he went on to claim via medical forfeit to reach the third place match where his run would finally come to an end at the hands of Cryus Bucsit of Iowa Western.
Clement received an opening round bye to begin his day in the 157 division, taking advantage of the good fortune with a second round 11-3 major decision over Draken Bennett before claiming the quarterfinal by major decision as well, this time 12-2 over Ruben Silveyra of Grand View.
Xerarch Tungjeroenkul of Central Missouri dealt Clement his first loss of the day in the semifinal by 12-4 major decision sending the Hawks' sophomore to the consolation semifinal where he was bested again, this time by Michael Roberts of Westminster. Clement then claimed a no contest win in the fifth place match over his teammate, Norris.
Norris reached the fifth place match in much different fashion, doing all of his work in the consolation bracket after dropping his opening match to Jake Anthonysz of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M by major decision.
After receiving a bye, Norris claimed the next four matches to reach the semifinal: a 14-8 decision over Draven Wright of Drury, an 11-0 major decision over Francisco Mendez of Concordia, a 16-1 tech fall over Ruben Silveyra of Grand View and 14-7 decision over Skyler Geer of Newman.
A tech fall loss to Zach Dawson of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in the consolation semifinal sent Norris to the fifth place match where the no contest against his teammate found the graduate student in sixth place in 157.
Ryner started off his 197 run on the right foot, defeating Thomas Tempest of Westminster by fall in opening championship round action before a 16-0 tech fall winner over Trenton Wills of Concordia in the quarterfinal lifted Ryner to the semis.
Ronan Wunsch of Central Missouri gave Ryner his first loss of the day in the semifinal before the Hawks' sophomore had to bow out of his final two matches, dropping them by medical forfeit. Thanks to his strong start, Ryner was able to secure a sixth place finish, despite having withdraw from his final two matches.

The Hawks have a little time to catch their breath before picking back up with a January 31st hosting of Drury for a 6:00 PM GLVC dual meet on Friday evening as QU looks to pick up it's first conference win of the season.
