ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Hawks were back on the mat getting some work in on Saturday (Jan. 14) at the Missouri Baptist hosted Dr. Tom Smith Invitational. Quincy had a fine performance featuring eight placers along with a 125 division title for Kaden Rios-Loud. 

Rios-Loud used a first round bye to reach the quarterfinal where he defeated Justin Soria of Indian Hills by fall to advance to the semis. A 13-7 decision over John Davis of Missouri Baptist in the semifinal followed by a hard-fought 8-7 decision over Isaac Gawronski of Westminster in the title match gave Rios-Loud the 125 crown. 

Dalton Schell was the next best finisher for QU, turning in a second place performance, picking up a fall, major decision and decision en route to the 1st place match. Schell was finally bested by Alexander Sederburg of William Woods who picked up the fall victory to claim the 165 division . 

Isaiah Hill used his first of two byes to reach the 285 quarterfinal where he dropped a 10-4 decision to Justin Brown of Indian Hills. Following his second bye, Hill delivered a fall win over Remington Hiser of Blackburn before claiming a pair of medical forfeits for a third place finish. 

James Soliz used a first round bye and fall victory over Dominic Mullin of William Woods to reach the 184 semifinal, where he was bested by Sincere Hall-Osbourne of Central Methodist. Soliz righted the ship against one of his own, out-dueling Tigh Connor Jr. to a 10-6 decision before bowing out of the third place match due to medical forfeit, while Conner went on to win his fifth place match over Mullin of William Woods by fall. 

Three more Hawks joined Conner with fifth place finishes, the first being Savion Essiet used a dominant 17-1 tech fall over Jonathan Hernandez-Cruz of Indian Hills to join Rios-Loud as a 125 placer.

Carter Silva used a fall, tech fall and decision to reach the fifth place match where he came out on top of a tight 8-6 decision over Adam Peregoy of Westminster to earn the top five finish. 

Anthony King was the final Hawks placer, reaching the podium in the 174 division by taking his fifth place match by medical forfeit. 

The Hawks are back in action on Thursday (Jan. 16) for a GLVC road dual at Maryville. The showdown is set to start at 7:00 PM St. Louis, MO.
