Kirksville, Mo. - The Quincy University track and field team competed at the Truman State Invitational on Friday (April 5), finishing with a few top-five times and throws at the home of the 2024 GLVC championship.
Women
Finley Petty worked some third place finishes in the 200 and 400 meter dashes this meet, running a 30.58 and 1:12.54 respectively.
Sofia Coglianese took care of the mid-distance 800 meter run, completing her two laps in 3:01.86.
Briana Obermaier ran the 1500 in 5:49.53 to complete the Hawks' time on the track.
On the field-side of the meet,
Cidney Woods posted a seventh place finish in the long jump with her farthest leap at 4.36 meters. In the triple jump, Woods hit 9.14 meters and earned herself a fourth place finish.
Katie Park rounded out the day with a third place toss in javelin at 29.37 meters.
Men
The men had
Jayden Ruiz and
Will Teig finishing back-to-back in the 200 meter dash, placing 11th and 12th respectively at 24.88 seconds and 25.81 seconds.
Nathan Goranson finished 7th in a tough heat of GLVC competitors in the 800 with a 2:00.43 time.
David Snider finished eighth in the 1500 meter run with his best time of the season at 4:11.07.
In hurdles,
Elijah Hecox finished 9th in the 110 meter hurdles at 18.80 and fifth in the 400 hurdles at 1:01.91.
Quincy posted well in throws with seventh and eighth place finishes from
Evan Sweeney and
JJ Love in the shot put and Sweeney placing fifth in the discus with a 43.75-meter toss. Sweeney placed eighth, Love tenth in the hammer throw with 46.61 and 44.57-meter throws respectively.
Tate Kunzeman finished the meet off on the men's side with a fourth place finish in javelin at 45.44 meters.
The Hawks look forward to their meet in Cedar Rapids next weekend at the Mustang Distance Carnival and Open.
