St. Louis, Mo. - The Quincy University women's swim team fell to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons on Saturday afternoon. The Tritons scored 141 points to the Hawks' 59 in the final meet of 2024.
Quincy started the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay courtesy of
Olga Pucarevic,
Faith Cummings,
Vanja Vrbanec, and Bella Sparrow's 1:53.23 time.
Elisa Armentia Moliner followed the race with a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 11:29.59.
Pucarevic finished just a second behind the Triton's Romina Itzkovich in the 100 IM, finishing at 1:02.43.
Ariaa Sheth repeated Pucarevic's fate, falling just a second behind the Tritons in the 100 freestyle with a 55.86-second time.
The Hawks gained major points in the 200 backstroke, picking up nine for the second, third, and fourth place finishes. Sparrow started the Hawks off with a 2:16.21, followed by Armentia Moliner's 2:19.02, and finally, Pucarevic's 2:19.04.
The Hawks completed their 2024 campaign with a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay at 1:46.22, swam by
Claire McDaris,
Cassie Rankin, Vrbanec, and Sheth.
The Hawks will take a month off of competitions for the holidays and return in January for a meet against the Redbirds of Illinois State.
"We made some great improvements in our racing but still have a bit to go," said Head Coach Bryan Chrsitiansen. "It's a distracting time with finals next week but we held together very well compared to where we marked ourselves a year ago!"
