GRINNELL, Iowa – The Hawks swim team competed in a two-day meet at the Grinnell Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The women's squad placed seventh out of 11 teams, while the men finished seventh out of nine teams in the team standings.
On the women's side,
Chantal Tiesinga turned in a strong weekend with multiple top-five finishes. She placed fourth in the 500 free with a time of 5:18.18 and followed that with a third-place finish in the 200 free at 1:59.99. Tiesinga also recorded a personal best in the 100 free, touching the wall in 56.85.
Faith Cummings delivered a pair of podium and near-podium efforts in the breaststroke events. She finished third in the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.06 and added a fifth-place finish in the 200 breast at 2:30.06, which stands as the third-best time in school history.
Several Hawks posted personal bests during the weekend.
Angelina Pagliaccio recorded a personal best in the 100 free (56.78), while
Shelby Jackson and
Miranda Kraan each set new personal marks in the 100 IM, finishing in 1:10.79 and 1:09.69, respectively.
For the men, Chalat Wojciech led the way in the distance events. He placed fourth in the 1650 free with a time of 16:41.79, ranking as the 10th-best performance in school history, and added a fifth-place finish in the 500 free at 4:49.92. Jeronimo Martinez recorded a personal best in the 100 IM (59.00), while
Nick Acero posted a personal best time of 23.00 in the 50 free.
Quincy will return to action on Saturday, January 31, when the Hawks face William Jewell in their final dual meet of the season before the GLVC Championships. First event is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Kresge Pool.
