Quincy, Ill. - The Hawks kicked off their GLVC schedule in Pepsi Arena with a tough task, facing #23 Upper Iowa on Friday evening (Dec. 6). The Peacocks showed why they have been tough to beat so far this year, taking all matches to deal a previously undefeated Hawks squad a 45-0 defeat.
Three Hawks were able to wrestle to decision losses, as
Sabian Russell gave #16 Ryan Wehner everything he could handle in their 141 match-up that went down to the wire until a last-second take-down led to a 4-1 defeat of Russell.
Callan Ivy had a strong showing in his 184 match against #10 Colter Bye, securing a take-down and a couple of escapes against the nationally ranked UIU 184-pounder before ultimately dropping the match by 9-5 decision.
Jackson Jones was able to hold his opponent to seven points in their 165 match as the third Hawk to remain at just a decision loss as well.
