Chalat Smashes Record; Hawks Fall to Strong Flyerws

Romeoville, Ill. - The Quincy University men's swim program finished its trip to the Chicagoland area with a meet against the Lewis University Flyers. The Flyers finished 9th as a team at the NCAA National Championships last spring and beat the Hawks 152-53.

The Hawks started off with the 200-yard medley relay with Brendan Worster, Juri Bauer, Borna Kisasondi, and Jordan Settumba finishing third at 1:34.20.

Wojciech Chalat wrote himself into the Quincy record books with a 16:34.35 swim in the 1650-yard freestyle. He snapped the record by nearly 30 seconds.

Kisasondi also had a stellar meet in Romeoville, posting a 21.06 split in the 200-yard medley relay, good for the second fastest 50 fly time in Division II. Kisasondi also tied for second place with fellow Hawk Martiniano Montero in the 50 freestyle at 21.50. Kisasondi also got second place in the 100 butterfly at Lewis and swam a 50.91 time.

Victor Abram and Jackson Rerick placed third and fourth in the 200 freestyle, swimming 1:44.05 and 1:53.16 times respectively. Andres Santana and Juri Bauer went third and fourth in the 100 breaststroke with just a second in between them. Santana swam a 1:01.94 and Bauer swam a 1:01.94.

Wyatt Walsh finished second in the 400 IM with a 4:11.07 time. Denislav Koykov finished second in the 100 freestyle with a 46.93 time, which is short of the Quincy record by just one second.

"We did well with our second road meet in two days against a team who had multiple athletes at NCAAs last year," said head coach Bryan Christiansen

The Hawks will return to the pool, this time at their own Bank of Springfield Aquatic Center to face the Bees of St. Ambrose University.
