Biography

Personal: Andres Santana, from Valencia, Venezuela, attended Los Robles before attending Iowa Lakes Community College. Academically, he excelled as the valedictorian, newspaper editor, and student body president while achieving the highest GPA in his school's history. His accolades include ten-time spelling contest champion, Math Olympics participant, Model United Nations delegate, and multiple honors in debate competitions. He was also deeply involved in extracurricular activities, serving as a student ambassador, a senior staff member for MONUR in the role of Business Secretary, and a volunteer at Venezuela’s biggest traditional music festival.

In athletics, Andres was a dominant swimmer, holding age group SCM state records in the 100m and 200m breaststroke (14/15 years old) and claiming 12 overall state championships. At Iowa Lakes Community College, he has continued his excellence, earning NJCAA All-Academic First Team honors, being a two-time NJCAA Academic All-American, and making the First Team Academic All-Region. He is also a Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member and has maintained a 4.0 GPA on the Dean’s List.

Beyond academics and swimming, Andres enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, and going to the beach. He draws inspiration from elite swimmers Ryan Murphy, Caeleb Dressel, and Bobby Finke.
