Box Score Rolla, Mo. - The Quincy University men's soccer team took on the Miners of Missouri S&T Friday night (Oct. 18). The Hawks walked away with a 1-1 draw that puts them in a tie for eighth place with Lincoln in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings.
The first minutes of the game were filled with corner kicks from both sides. Quincy took advantage of their first corner kick of the game, taking the lead in the fourth minute.
Joao Pedro Amaral sent in an in-swinging ball that found the head of
Paal Vistnes on the back post. The Miners tied things up just fifteen minutes later off a volley from the top of the box.
Both the Hawks and the Miners fought hard for a leg-up in the contest, but it was the Miners who locked in on the Hawks' defensive third for the second half. The Miners out-shot the Hawks seven to two and secured four corner kicks.
Carlos Moreno Henao made a crucial block in the final twenty seconds of the match to keep the draw for the Hawks.
George Roke started in net for the Hawks and made one save in the contest.
The Hawks look forward to Sunday's matchup against the Drury Panthers in Springfield, Missouri.
