Midway, Ky. - Fresh off a big win over Walsh a week ago fo the first win of the season, the Hawks traveled to the Bluegrass State to take on the Eagles of Midway University week five MSFL action.
The Eagles got the better of the Hawks, scoring 19 unanswered points in the second and third quarters that would prove to be the difference in a 19-14 victory over QU.
Quincy got on the board first with a 15-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the contest to move ahead 7-0 after a successful PAT from
Jensen Laughlin.
Neither side found its way onto the scoreboard for the remainder of the quarter as MU found its way into the end zone at the 10:57 mark of the second quarter to even the tally at 7-7. Later in the quarter, a five-yard rush from the Eagles delivered another touchdown, giving Midway a 13-7 advantage heading into the break following a failed PAT.
MU scored its final points of the contest on its opening drive of the third quarter, this time through the air on a 63-yard TD reception to press ahead 19-7 after another unsuccessful point after attempt.
CJ Jackson pulled the Hawks within a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, toting the ball 13 yards for the score to make it 19-14 and conclude the scoring for the ballgame.
Jackson led Quincy in rushing with 67 yards on the ground while
Nasir Carson led the Hawks through the air with three receptions for 80 yards.
Deuce Allaway threw for 189 yards adding two more yards on the ground.
Kyron Dunae,
Logan Cannady and
Aaron Kennerly led the way for the Hawks defense with five tackles apiece while
Austin Moore picked up the lone QU sack, also adding two tackles.
