Rolla, Mo. – The Quincy track and field program competed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship this weekend (May 4-6). The women's team placed tenth and the men's team placed twelfth.
Jaret Boehm started the weekend for the Hawks with a 13
th place finish in the hammer throw, tossing a long 40.35 meters. Boehm finished just shy of medaling in discus, finishing fourth in the conference with 45.46 meters. Boehm rounded off his weekend with a 14.69-meter toss of the shotput, finishing 10
th.
Faith Haggard came to compete this weekend, breaking her own school record in the long jump with a 5.38-meter leap. The sophomore placed 6
th overall. Haggard also placed 9
th in the preliminary 100-meter hurdles race.
David Gamble came into the meet ranked 21
st in the conference in the 200-meter dash and finished the preliminaries ranked 14
th with a 23.70 time. Teammate
Dujuan Baker qualified for the 110-meter hurdles final (15.17 seconds), but unfortunately did not finish.
Faith Haggard and
David Gamble were honored with the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship award for the outdoor season. They are highlighted for their respect and kindness in and out of competition.
