Records Crushed at House of Champions

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Quincy University swim program competed at the House of Champions meet hosted by IUPUI this weekend (Nov. 16-18). The Hawks competed against multiple strong Division I teams and set seventeen Quincy program records in the process. The men finished 8th out of ten teams and the women finished 12th out of thirteen teams. 

Women
Swimming against some tough competition in the historic IUPUI Natatorium led the women to break three Quincy records. Faith Cummings set a new 50 yard breaststroke record at 30.33 and freshman Ariaa Sheth broke the 50-butterfly record, setting the new time at 27.31. The 800 freestyle relay made a splash this weekend with a new record at 8:05.44. Izabella Sparrow, Chantal Tiesinga, Ariaa Sheth, and Nancy Olson earned an 11th place finish with the record-breaking time. 

Men
In addition to fourteen new records for the Hawks, Wyatt Walsh claimed two overall victories at the House. Walsh won the 200 IM, shaving three seconds from his prelim time, finishing at 1:48.55. Walsh also got the top spot of the podium in the 400 IM, finishing at 3:53.07, beating the next swimmer by nearly four seconds. 

Borna Kisasondi finished top-eight in two races this weekend. Kisasondi finished sixth in the 100 butterfly with a 49.78 time, and finished sixth in the 50 freestyle with a 20.50. Not too far behind him was Santiago Leiva, finishing eighth in the 50 freestyle with a 20.69 time and Martiano Montero at tenth wtih a 20.71 time. 

All four men's relays broke records this weekend, with three of them placing among top Division I and II programs. The 200 freestyle relay finished third with a 1:20.72 time featuring Santiago Leiva, Martiano Montero, Ian Caballero, and Borna Kisasondi. Also finishing third was the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:02.92 time from the quad of Leiva, Walsh, Montero, and Kisasondi. The 400 medley placed sixth in Indianapolis, featuring Kisasondi, Walsh, Montero, and Leiva. 

The Hawks will swim once more before the new year in St. Louis, Missouri, in a tri-meet with Maryville and UMSL.
