Hawks Sweep on Sunday, Home Runs In Game One and Shutout In Game Two for Third Consecutive Win

OWENSBORO, KY---The Quincy University softball team picked up two wins on Sunday (Feb 27) afternoon as they defeated Ohio Dominican 3-2 then finished their weekend with a 6-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan College. 


Game 1
Quincy struck first in game one after Casey Brennan and Bailey Mitchell each hit home runs in the first two frames to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead after two innings. 

Ohio Dominican tied the game in the fourth after they plated two runs by stealing home and then scoring a run off an error, and it was 2-2 headed into the fifth inning. 

Madeline Ruzicka hit a home run in the fifth to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead, and the third home run of the game for QU proved to be a game winner as they held on for the one run victory. Bailee 
Highbarger worked 3.2 scoreless out of the bullpen for the Hawks while she only allowed one hit. 

Game 2 
The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Hawks expelled for four runs after Mitchell had a two run double to start the scoring in the frame to give QU a 2-0 lead in the fifth. 

Allyson Maynard and Audrey Hermann each had RBI's to extend QU's lead to 4-0 after five innings. QU scored two more runs in the seventh and sealed the six run win behind a complete game shutout from Kaelyn Conger on the mound for QU. The freshman only allowed four hits through seven innings of work and did not allow a walk. She only needed 49 pitches in her dominant performance in the circle.
