The Quincy University softball team dropped two games against Ohio Dominican (2-1 and 9-0) Saturday evening (March 5).
After a blank first inning,
Ashley Poore put the Hawks on top with a grounder to right field, bringing in
Audrey Hermann. Though Quincy put the ball in play in all but four at-bats the rest of the game, the Hawks couldn't put another run on the scoreboard. The Panthers responded quickly with a run in the bottom of the second inning, sealing the deal with another run in the fourth inning. Freshman
Eileen McGinnis got her third start of the season, striking out three batters in four innings.
In the second game, the Hawks held the Panthers until the fourth inning where they scored off an RBI and a sacrificial bunt.
Jayle Jennings and
Audrey Hermann each had hits for the Hawks.
The Hawks look to break even on the UIS Invitational with a double header against Hillsdale College on Sunday, March 6 beginning at noon.
