QUINCY, Ill. – The first year of the Midwest Sprint Football League has officially wrapped up as the league office announced its postseason awards, which were voted on by the coaches.

The Hawks had 11 recognized for their performances in the 2022 season.

Sophomore linebacker Ray Lingard leads the contingent of Hawks recognized as he was named the MSFL Defensive Player of the Year. The St. Louis, Missouri native led the team with 72 total tackles. He also recorded 16 TFLs and 6.5 sacks.

Two members of the Hawk offensive unit were named to the first team in quarterback Taylor Klusmeyer and wide receiver Exavior Hinton. Klusmeyer completed 71 of his 132 passes for 818 yards and 9 touchdowns. The Mendon, Illinois native also ran the ball 87 times for 329 yards and added four touchdowns.

Hinton led the receiver group for the season with 21 catches for 314 yards and four touchdowns. He also carried the ball for 82 yards on 38 carries.

The lone QU defensive representative on the first team is linebacker Jaree Jones. The Kenosha, Wisconsin native was second on the team in total tackles with 54. He was also second on the team in TFLs and sacks with 8 and 3.5, respectively.

The Hawk kicker and punter Ethan Beroiza was named to the first team special teams unit. The Quincy native helped flip the field on several occasions as he punted 28 times for 784 yards, including two that went 50 or more yards. He was 5 of 6 on field goals, including a long of 46 yards. Berioza was also 13 of 15 on extra point chances.

The offense was well represented on the second team all-conference with two wide receivers and an offensive linemen.

Camden Pye and Elijah Leasman were the two receivers named to the 2^nd team. Pye caught 32 passes for 292 yards and one touchdown. Leasman caught 13 passes for 141 yards and four touchdowns.

Derek Michelman was an anchor for the offensive line as he played in all 7 games as the starting center.

Three Hawks from the secondary were named to the 2^nd team all-conference defensive unit.

Kyson Jackson recorded 25 tackles, while also breaking up 5 passes. He also intercepted a pass.

Cordell Walker recorded 51 tackles, with 5 TFLs and 2 tackles. The Concord, Illinois native also recovered a fumble.

Landyn Smith led the team with 4 interceptions, and tied for the most pass break ups with 5.
