QUINCY, Ill. - Quincy University kicker and punter
Jensen Laughlin, has been named the Midwest Sprint Football League special teams player of the week following his performance in the Hawks' 21-14 victory over Bellarmine.
Laughlin played a key role in the Quincy victory, contributing in both the kicking and punting game as the Hawks secured an important conference win.
The senior converted all three of his extra-point attempts, helping Quincy capitalize on its three rushing touchdowns and maintain the lead throughout the contest.
On special teams, Laughlin handled four kickoffs for 229 yards, averaging 57.3 yards per kickoff. His consistency helped Quincy manage field position throughout the game, while his work as the team's punter provided another important contribution.
Laughlin recorded five punts for 199 yards, averaging 39.8 yards per punt, with a long of 63 yards. He placed two punts inside the 20-yard line, helping the Hawks limit Bellarmine's opportunities to start drives with favorable field position.
One of Laughlin's biggest moments came in the closing seconds of the game. After Quincy secured an interception with just over a minute remaining, the Hawks faced a fourth-and-six situation from their own 33-yard line with eight seconds left on the clock.
Laughlin delivered a 63-yard punt that traveled to the Bellarmine four-yard line, pinning the Knights deep in their own territory as time expired.
The punt helped seal the Quincy victory and highlighted his ability to deliver in a critical situation.
Laughlin also contributed on kickoff coverage, making a tackle on a Bellarmine return in the fourth quarter. His effort capped a productive afternoon in which he contributed across multiple phases of special teams.
Throughout the 2026 season, Laughlin has continued to serve as a reliable presence for the Hawks. As a senior who handles both kicking and punting responsibilities, he provides consistency in key situations and helps Quincy compete in the field-position battle.
His performance against Bellarmine demonstrated the value of his versatility, from converting extra points to flipping the field with his punting.
With his latest honor from the Midwest Sprint Football League, Laughlin's contributions to Quincy's special teams unit receive well-earned recognition as the Hawks continue their 2026 campaign.
