WARRENSBURG, MO. - The Quincy University track team ran well at the University of Central Missouri Mule Relays yesterday evening (April 16). The Hawks had two event winners and nine total top-five finishes in the event.
The men's 4x100 relay team which had
Antonio Laidler,
Jemini Archer,
Chadwick Stuart, and
Olaolu Olatunde passing the baton and finished in first with a final time of 41.45.
Olatunde kept his night rolling as he won the men's 200 meters. The Hawks actually finished 1-2-3 in this event with Olatunde winning in a photo finish at the end. His time of 22.382 was just a hair faster than
Chadwick Stuart's time of 22.389, who finished second.
Carlo Heath took third place with a final count of 22.47.
Antonio Laidler made his presence felt in the men's 100 meter dash. Laidler qualified for the event final with a time of 10.82 which was the second fastest in qualifying. In the final event, the freshman ran a 10.74 which was good enough for third place.
Carlo Heath took second place in the men's 400 meters with a time of 49.59. It was Heath's first top finish in the 400 this season.
On the women's side, the Hawks had four individuals finish in the top-five of their events.
De'Andre Cornwall took third place in the long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters (16.43 feet), and she also finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles after sprinting for a time of 15.44.
Janay Chapman made some noise in the women's 100 meter event. The freshman ran the second fastest time in qualifying with a 12.43. She ended the day with a fifth place finish in the 100 meter final after recording a 12.64.
Breanna Pratt had a solid Friday night as she finished second place in the women's 400 meters after running a time of 57.85. She also snagged a top-ten finish in the 200 meters with a 26.46 final time. This was good for seventh at Friday's meet.
Quincy will either be at the Drake Relays or back at Lindenwood for the Dick Cochran Classic next weekend.
