QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University golf program hosted their first spring tournament for the first time since 2013 on Monday and Tuesday (April 12 and 13). The Hawks finished fifth on both sides as a team with
Hannah Maguire leading the QU women, while
Nick Messinger paced the men's squad.
Maguire recorded a top-ten finish after shooting a two-round score of 174. William Woods' Maria Zrodowska took top spot among the women's leader board with an eight-over par, 152. Southern Indiana won the overall team score with a combined 652 over both days. QU had a two-day score of 735.
Nick Messinger was tied for sixth after day one on Monday after shooting a 76. Messinger ended the event just outside the top-ten in a tie for 11th with a two-round score of 155. William Woods edged Missouri Valley by one stroke to win the team event, and WWU's Logan Smith shot the event's lowest two rounds with a 145 (72, 73) as he edged Missouri Valley's Pablo Hernandez and Felipe Gomez by one stroke (146 each).
T.J. Wensing finished tied for 13th after an event score of 156, and
Natalie Dearwester finished in the top-20 with a final tally of 181.
This is QU's last event before the GLVC Championships begin next Monday (April 19) at Eureka, Missouri's Fox Run Golf Club.
