Men's Golf Finishes 2nd at QCC Shootout

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's golf team began the fall season at their home course during the Quincy Country Club Shootout on Monday (Sept. 21). The Hawks took home a second place finish out of six other schools. T.J. Wensing finished tied for second place with a two-round score of 148.

Wensing started off the day hot with a field-leading 68 after the first round. The junior from Quincy held a five-stroke lead going into the second round in the afternoon. Wensing had to settle for a tie of second place after shooting an 80 on the final eighteen.

Columbia College's Noah Wilson squeaked past Wensing with a two-round score of 146. Columbia also took first place with a team score of 596.

Eight QU golfers competed in Monday's event. Nathan Hoebing shot a 75 and a 79 for a complete score of 154 which was good enough for a sixth place finish.

Nick Messinger shot a 158 while CJ Doiron finished one stroke behind him with a 159 to finish 12th and 14th.

Rounding out the action for QU, Kolbe Rodemich shot a 161, Parker Toney finished with a 166, Patrick Ringwald shot a 169, while Grant Wolfe and Connor Stephenson each shot a 178.

This was the men's highest finish since the Hawks finished second place at the UIS Fall Invite in 2013.

QU will look to keep their momentum going as they head to the Lewis Flyer Intercollegiate next Monday (Sept. 28).
