LIBERTY, Mo. - The Quincy University men's and women's track & field teams were in action on Saturday (April 13) at the Darrel Gourley Open at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. The men placed 18th and the women placed 14th behind a first place finish from
Maggie Porterfield.
Porterfield recorded 10 points for the Hawks as she took 1st in women's pole vault, clearing a height of 3.28 meters. The sophomore also competed in the javelin, throwing 26.59 meters.
Aleksandra Petrovic competed in the same event, finishing with a distance of 27.14 meters.Â
Hannah Horman saw a 5th place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, recording a time of 13:41.29 to give QU four points.
Athena Lesiotis took 6th place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:26.37, good enough for three points.
In the 200-meter dash, Dami Adeyinka sprinted to a time of 27.85 seconds.
Josh White got the men's team on the board in the high jump competition. White leaped 1.8 meters to finish in 7th place, giving the Hawks two points.
Tyrone Hicks took 9th place in the discus throw with a distance of 37.41 meters.
Eric Venvertloh also competed in the event, finishing with a throw of 23.31 meters.
Hicks, Venvertloh, and
Wendell Bias all competed in the javelin, finishing with throws of 34.87 meters, 32.44 meters, and 23.73 meters, respectively.Â
In the 200-meter dash on the men's side,
Kevin Saunders crossed the finish line with a time 23.43 seconds. Saunders also competed in the long jump competition, leaping 5.81 meters.
Will Kipping competed in the 1500-meter run, finishing with a time of 4:26.37. The sophomore also completed the 800-meter run with a final time of 2:10.91.Â
Josiah Prenger rounded out the competition in the 5000-meter run, finishing with a time of 18:40.98.

The track & field program is back in action Saturday (April 20) in Rolla, Missouri at the Dewey Allgood Invite hosted by Missouri S&T.
