QU Competes at Culver-Stockton, Lady Hawks Secure Four Wins

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's and men's track & field teams were in competition on Thursday (March 24) at the Wildcat Open, hosted by Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo.

The women's team competed in a dual meet with the Wildcats, finishing in second place, while the men finished third against Culver-Stockton and Hannibal-LaGrange in a clash among three schools in the tri-state area.

On the women's side, the Lady Hawks finished with four first-place finishes. Freshman Marie Rush was the winner in the discus with a throw of 25.01 meters.

In the 800-meter run, freshman Kellyn Lamore set the pace with a time of 2:43.55. Junior Elizabeth Leden won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:17.08. Finally, sophomore Megan McClure was the champion in the 5k run by clocking in at 20:27.32.

Leden was also third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:07.27. Senior Brittany Klosak finished third in the 1,500 at 5:52.49. Meanwhile, sophomore Dede Barrigah was third in the 200-meter dash at 34.15 seconds.

On the men's side, junior Derek Armstrong posted a pair of top three finishes. He was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.81 seconds, while teammate Conner Gibbons was third in 57.65 seconds. Freshman Lincoln McGrath was fourth in the race at 1:00.72.

Armstrong crossed the line in third in the 200-meter dash at 25.11 seconds. McGrath placed fifth in the race with a time of 25.93 seconds.

On the throwing side, sophomore Jake Bass-Barber was third in the javelin throw with a heave of 30.32 meters. In the discus, Robbie Overstreet was fourth with a throw of 32.97 meters while senior Sam Rohr fifth with a toss of 30.10 meters. Rohr (10.91 meters) and Overstreet (10.12 meters) were fourth and fifth in the shot put.

Culver-Stockton won the meet on both the men's and women's sides.

The Hawks return to action on April 2 when they travel to Clinton, Iowa for the Ashford Classic.
