QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team travels to Romeoville, Illinois, on Wednesday for a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup against Lewis University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Lewis Stadium.

The Hawks enter the contest with a 2-1-3 overall record and a 2-0-1 mark in conference play after earning a 1-1 draw against Missouri S&T on Saturday.

Lewis enters at 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference action after falling 2-1 to Rockhurst.

While Quincy has remained unbeaten through its first three conference matches, Lewis will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak and get back on track in GLVC play.

Last Time Out

The Hawks battled Missouri S&T to a 1-1 draw Saturday at Legends Stadium.

After being outshot 6-1 in the first half, Quincy found itself trailing 1-0 following a Missouri S&T goal in the 27th minute. Goalkeeper Devin Tracy helped keep the deficit at one goal by making two saves before halftime.

The Hawks responded with a much stronger second half, generating eight shots after managing only one in the opening 45 minutes.

Their persistence paid off when Jessie Newton found Rebecca Rheinheimer for the equalizer.

The goal was Rheinheimer's fourth of the season, while Newton's assist was her sixth of the year, a total that currently is second in all of NCAA Division II.

Missouri S&T finished with an 11-9 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in shots on goal, but Tracy's five-save performance helped the Hawks secure the draw.

Quincy Attack Finding Its Rhythm

One of the biggest storylines entering Wednesday's match is the recent surge by the Quincy offense.

The Hawks have recorded 44 shots, 22 shots on goal, and eight goals over their last three matches.

That offensive run began with a 2-1 upset of then-No. 22 McKendree and continued with a dominant 5-0 victory over Indianapolis before Saturday's 1-1 draw with Missouri S&T.

For the season, Quincy has outshot opponents 83-59 and has placed more than half of its attempts on target.

Rheinheimer leads the team with four goals and two assists, while Abbie Martin has added two goals. Newton has been one of the nation's top playmakers with six assists.

The Hawks' ability to consistently create scoring chances has been a major factor in their unbeaten start to conference play.

Defense Continues to Anchor the Hawks

While the offense has received attention recently, Quincy's defense has been equally important.

Tracy has recorded 24 saves this season while allowing only six goals and posting one shutout.

The Hawks have consistently kept matches close, with three draws and only one loss all season.

Their ability to limit quality scoring opportunities has given the offense time to find late goals and equalizers throughout the year.

That balance between offense and defense has helped Quincy become one of the conference's more difficult teams to beat.

Series History

Wednesday's contest will mark the 31st meeting between Quincy and Lewis.

The Hawks own a commanding 21-7-2 advantage in the all-time series and have not lost to the Flyers since 2022.

Last season's meeting ended in a scoreless draw in Romeoville. Lewis held an 11-9 advantage in shots, but Tracy and the Quincy defense limited the Flyers to zero shots on goal throughout the match. Rheinheimer led the Hawks with five shots, while Morgan Tucker nearly broke through with a late opportunity in the 80th minute. The result continued a strong recent run for Quincy in the series.

Scouting Lewis

Lewis enters Wednesday's match looking to bounce back after consecutive conference losses.

The Flyers are 2-4 overall and have scored eight goals while allowing 12 through six matches.

Despite the record, Lewis has outshot opponents 74-66 this season, suggesting the Flyers have been competitive but have struggled to consistently turn chances into goals.

Lewis has also allowed six goals over its last two matches, falling 4-1 to Maryville before dropping a 2-1 decision to Rockhurst.

Talia Kaempf leads the Flyers with two goals, 11 shots and one assist. Olive Tinucci has also scored twice, while Anna Linsler has recorded eight shots.

Lewis has used multiple goalkeepers early in the season. Andrea Wie has made 13 saves, while Jillian Barth started the Flyers' most recent match against Rockhurst and recorded nine saves.

Lewis finished 7-5-5 overall and 6-5-3 in conference play last season, earning the No. 7 seed in the GLVC Tournament.

The Flyers graduated several experienced seniors and are working younger players into larger roles this season.

Head coach Chris Koenig is in his 20th season leading the program.

Matchup Outlook

Wednesday's matchup will feature one of the conference's hottest offenses against a Lewis team looking to regain momentum.

Quincy has scored eight goals over its last three matches and continues to receive strong production from Rheinheimer and Newton.

Lewis, meanwhile, has allowed six goals over its last two contests and will need a stronger defensive performance to slow the Hawks' attack.

The Flyers have generated plenty of shots this season, but converting those opportunities against Tracy and the Quincy defense will be critical if they hope to end their losing streak.

If Quincy can continue the offensive form it has shown throughout conference play while maintaining its defensive consistency, the Hawks will have an opportunity to remain unbeaten in GLVC competition.
