QUINCY, Ill. – After taking a major step forward during the first season under head coach Taylor Reis, the Quincy University women's soccer team enters 2026 looking to build on that success with a strong group of returning contributors and another collection of newcomers.

Reis enters his second season at the helm of the Hawks and is joined by assistant coach Jeweleen Reuille, who also enters her second season, along with first-year graduate assistant Lauren Hoolahan.

Quincy finished the 2025 season with a 10-4-4 overall record and a 9-2-3 mark in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Hawks put together their best season since 2018, recorded their most conference victories since 2017 and qualified for the GLVC Tournament for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign.

QU also earned the opportunity to host a GLVC Tournament quarterfinal match for the first time since 2018.

The Hawks enter 2026 with a 36-player roster consisting of 21 returners, 11 freshmen and four transfers.

Quincy brings back 9,622 minutes from last year's squad, accounting for approximately 54 percent of its total playing time. The Hawks also return 17 of their 29 goals from a season ago, nearly 59 percent of their scoring production.

Tracy Returns in Goal

Sophomore goalkeeper Devin Tracy gives the Hawks stability in goal after emerging as one of the top young keepers in the GLVC during her freshman season.

Tracy started all 18 matches and played 1,560 minutes, going the full 90 minutes in all but two contests. She finished the season with 53 saves while compiling a 10-4-4 record and a 0.75 goals-against average.

Her eight shutouts ranked fourth in the GLVC as she helped anchor one of the conference's strongest defensive units.

Tracy's performance earned her Third Team All-GLVC honors, and she returns in 2026 after playing all but 60 minutes of her freshman campaign in goal.

Rheinheimer Leads Returning Attack

At the other end of the field, senior forward Rebecca Rheinheimer returns after establishing herself as one of the top attacking players in the GLVC during her first season with Quincy.

Rheinheimer started all 18 matches in 2025 and totaled 1,258 minutes while leading the Hawks with 10 goals. Her goal total ranked tied for fourth in the GLVC, while four assists gave her a team-high 24 points, third-most in the conference. Five of her goals were game-winners, tied for third in the league.

Rheinheimer earned First Team All-GLVC and D2CCA First Team All-Midwest Region honors while twice being named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week.

With Quincy returning more than half of its scoring production from last season, Rheinheimer once again figures to be at the center of the Hawks' attack.

Senior forward Dache Johnson gives Quincy another experienced attacking option.

Johnson appeared in all 18 matches last season and made 10 starts, totaling 928 minutes. She scored two goals, including one game-winner.

Through her first two seasons with the Hawks, Johnson has appeared in 35 matches and made 20 starts, giving Quincy another proven player with significant collegiate experience in the attacking third.

Newton Returns to the Midfield

Senior midfielder Jessie Newton also returns after making an immediate impact during her first season with the Hawks.

Despite battling through injury, Newton started all 14 matches in which she appeared and totaled 1,089 minutes. She led Quincy with six assists, a total that ranked tied for fifth in the GLVC.

With another year in the program and an experienced group of attacking players surrounding her, Newton gives the Hawks another veteran presence in the middle of the field.

Defensive Core Remains

A large part of Quincy's success last season came from a defensive unit that recorded nine shutouts and surrendered just 0.78 goals per match. Several important pieces from that group return in 2026.

Sophomore defender Gracie Vierra made an immediate impact during her freshman campaign, starting all 17 matches in which she appeared and totaling 1,436 minutes.

Vierra played the full 90 minutes in 11 matches and became a consistent presence along the back line during her first collegiate season.

Senior defender Marina Oberschmid provides another experienced piece of the Quincy defense.

Oberschmid started all 16 matches in which she appeared last season and totaled 1,333 minutes, fifth-most on the team. She played the full 90 minutes nine times while helping the Hawks produce nine shutouts. She also contributed offensively from the back line, scoring two goals.

With Tracy returning in goal and Vierra and Oberschmid back in front of her, Quincy retains several key pieces from a defensive group that proved difficult to break down throughout the 2025 season.

Transfers Add Collegiate Experience

Four transfers join the Hawks for the 2026 campaign, adding experience at multiple positions.

Junior defender Jasmine Liddicoat joins Quincy after previously spending two seasons at Saint Leo before playing last season at Farmingdale State College.

Liddicoat appeared in 11 matches for Farmingdale State, making one start and totaling 157 minutes. She finished the year with one goal and two assists for four points.

Junior forward Daniela Mesplie comes to Quincy after two seasons at Northwest University.

Mesplie appeared in 10 matches and totaled 297 minutes as a freshman, recording one assist. She increased her role as a sophomore, appearing in 13 matches with two starts and 381 minutes while adding two assists.

Junior Lucy Thomas brings extensive starting experience after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Auburn University at Montgomery.

Thomas appeared in 16 matches as a freshman, making 15 starts and totaling 896 minutes. She scored three goals for six points during her first collegiate season.

She followed by appearing in another 16 matches as a sophomore and making 14 starts while totaling 1,158 minutes. Thomas played the full 90 minutes six times during the season, giving the Hawks another newcomer with significant collegiate experience.

Junior goalkeeper Emily Bohlken rounds out the transfer class after spending two seasons at Southeastern Community College.

Bohlken appeared in six matches during each of her first two collegiate seasons and gives Quincy additional experience and depth at goalkeeper behind Tracy.

Freshman Class Adds Depth

The Hawks also welcome 11 freshmen to the program as the coaching staff continues building depth throughout the roster. Quincy's freshman class includes one goalkeeper, one midfielder, six defenders and three forwards.

The group comes to Quincy from seven different states and will look to compete for opportunities immediately alongside a returning group that helped the Hawks make significant progress a season ago.

The six incoming defenders in particular provide the coaching staff with several new options as Quincy looks to maintain the defensive standard established during the 2025 campaign.

Building on a Breakthrough Season

Unlike a year ago, when Quincy entered the season under a new head coach and with plenty to prove, the Hawks begin 2026 with something to build upon.

Quincy returns its leading scorer in Rheinheimer, its starting goalkeeper in Tracy, its leading assist producer in Newton and multiple starters from a defense that recorded nine shutouts.

At the same time, 15 newcomers give the Hawks additional competition and depth throughout a 36-player roster.

Quincy has already begun preseason practice and competed in multiple scrimmages as the Hawks prepare for the beginning of the 2026 season.

The Hawks will officially open the Quincy University athletic calendar on Thursday, August 27, hosting Purdue Northwest at 5:30 PM at Legends Stadium.
