QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Sunday afternoon, falling 2–0 to the Panthers of Drury University in the quarterfinal round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
The Panthers struck early, finding the back of the net in the 13th minute when Keira Love finished a pass from Leah McDonald and Elena Perez to make it 1–0. Quincy responded with several quality chances throughout the opening half as
Ella Wolfard,
Gracie Vierra, and
Jessie Newton each forced saves from Drury goalkeeper Katy Fitzler, but the Hawks entered halftime trailing by one.
In the second half, Quincy continued to press forward in search of an equalizer. The Hawks earned six corner kicks in the afternoon and created sustained pressure in the attacking third, highlighted by opportunities from
Daniella Segall, who registered three shots, including two on goal. However, Drury doubled its lead in the 65th minute as Holland Hawkins scored her sixth goal of the year off assists from Elli Davison and Love.
Quincy continued to battle to the final whistle, outshooting Drury 7–5 in shots on goal and finishing narrowly behind in total shots 11–10. Fitzler ended the afternoon with seven saves to secure the clean sheet for Drury, while
Devin Tracy made three saves in 90 minutes for the Hawks.
Despite the result, the season reflects a significant step forward for the program under first-year head coach
Taylor Reis. The Hawks returned to the GLVC Tournament for the first time since the 2020–21 season, hosted a postseason match at Legends Stadium for the first time since 2018, and earned their first double-digit win campaign in six years. With a strong senior class setting the standard and a talented core returning, Quincy established a renewed identity built on defensive toughness, competitive consistency, and belief. The foundation laid this fall provides clear momentum moving forward, and the Hawks enter the offseason positioned to continue their rise within the conference landscape.
