Hawks Throw a Block Party in 3–0 Sweep of Jamestown

Quincy, Ill. – The Quincy University men's volleyball team put together one of its strongest performances of the season on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Jamestown 3-0 inside Pepsi Arena by scores of 25-21, 25-21, and 25-19. The Hawks controlled the match with efficient offense, dominant play at the net, and balanced production across the lineup, improving to 7-6 overall and 4-0 in GLVC play.

Quincy turned in a season-best offensive showing, finishing with 43 kills, its highest total of the year, while hitting .310 as a team. The Hawks also matched a season high with 39 assists and set a new season high with 13 total blocks, overwhelming Jamestown at the net from start to finish. Jamestown finished with 35 kills on .184 hitting, while Quincy hit at least .267 in all three sets and reached a match-best .364 clip in the opening frame.

Set One

Quincy came out sharp and used kills from Zackary Zdrojeski, Tomas Badan, and Bauer Larson to build a 10-4 lead. Jamestown responded and eventually pulled even at 16-16 behind the attack of Chase Hawkinson, but the Hawks answered at the right time. Zdrojeski and Barnabas Fenyvesi delivered key kills late, while Quincy added a block and a service ace to regain control. Consecutive finishes from Zdrojeski and Badan closed out a 25-21 first-set win.

Set Two

The Hawks again established the tempo early, using kills from Isaiah Travis, Fenyvesi, and Zdrojeski to take a 9-6 lead. Badan and Larson helped spark Quincy's net play, and a Badan ace stretched the margin to 11-6. Jamestown tried to stay within striking distance, but Quincy continued to get timely offense from Fenyvesi, Travis, and Zdrojeski. Travis Mendoza delivered a late service ace, and a Jamestown service error sealed another 25-21 set win.

Set Three

Quincy wasted little time taking command in the third, jumping out to a 6-2 edge behind kills from Travis and Badan, along with a Larson ace. The Hawks stayed in control behind steady offense from Badan, Larson, and Zdrojeski, while Pawel Tuz kept the attack flowing throughout the set. Jamestown made one final push, but Quincy answered with more finishes from Fenyvesi and Larson before closing the match on a 25-19 set victory to complete the sweep.

Individual Stats

Zdrojeski turned in one of the best matches of his career, tying his career high with 10 kills while also surpassing 200 career kills. He added a career-high five total blocks and six digs in a complete all-around effort. Fenyvesi matched Zdrojeski for the team lead with 10 kills, while Larson added nine kills and four digs. Badan was a major presence in the middle with six kills on .429 hitting and a career-high eight total blocks, while also surpassing 100 career blocks. Tuz directed the offense with 37 assists as the Hawks ran a balanced and efficient attack.

As a team, Quincy totaled 43 kills, 39 assists, 28 digs, four service aces, and 13 total blocks in one of its most complete matches of the season. The Hawks' depth and efficiency showed throughout the afternoon, with multiple players contributing offensively while the front row consistently disrupted Jamestown's rhythm.
