QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy earned its second straight victory and completed the season sweep of Lincoln with a decisive 75-54 win Wednesday night inside Pepsi Arena. The Hawks controlled the game from the opening quarter and leaned on dominant interior play, as
Acheampomaa Danso and
Hayven Harden combined for 33 points on an efficient 16-for-20 shooting performance.
The opening minutes were tightly contested, with the teams tied 7-7 midway through the first quarter while Quincy started just 3-of-9 from the field. Lincoln turnovers quickly shifted momentum, and out of the media timeout, Harden ignited the offense with a personal 6-0 run. The Hawks closed the quarter on a 9-4 surge, led by Harden's 10 first-quarter points, to build a 22-11 advantage. Quincy shot 9-of-16 in the period while forcing 10 Blue Tiger turnovers.
Quincy continued its efficiency in the second quarter, opening 5-of-6 from the floor to extend the lead. With the Hawks ahead 32-23 late in the half, they closed with an 11-0 run sparked by
Reagan Reed and
Katey Flynn, along with a step-back three from
Sydney Runsewe. The Hawks took a commanding 43-23 lead into halftime after shooting 8-of-12 in the quarter, while Lincoln managed just 4-of-17.
The third quarter featured a slower pace and cold shooting from both sides. Quincy struggled early, and turnovers increased, but Lincoln could not capitalize as the Hawks maintained a comfortable margin. Harden finished the quarter with a late 4-0 burst to push the lead back to 20, 57-37, heading into the final period. The teams combined to shoot just 10-of-31 in the quarter.
With the game firmly in control, Quincy remained efficient in the fourth quarter. Danso scored eight of her 16 points in the final frame, helping the Hawks stretch the lead and allowing the bench to see extended minutes down the stretch. Quincy closed out the 75-54 victory in front of the home crowd.
The Hawks shot 50 percent from the field and limited Lincoln to 34 percent shooting. Quincy controlled the glass 39-27 and dominated the paint 42-22, a decisive factor in the outcome. Both teams shot better than 70 percent from the free-throw line, and Lincoln finished with 17 turnovers compared to 16 by Quincy.
Harden led Quincy with 17 points while Danso added 16, each shooting 8-of-10 from the floor. Flynn finished in double figures with 10 points and five rebounds.
Karly Peters filled the stat sheet with nine points, five rebounds, three steals, a block, and an assist.
Quincy returns to action Saturday at 1:00 PM when the Hawks host Missouri-St. Louis, the current GLVC leader. The Tritons edged Quincy 62-61 in overtime earlier this season. Saturday will also serve as Senior Day, honoring Danso, Runsewe, and
Hampton Williams.
