QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's volleyball team closes the 2026 regular season with a pair of home matches this weekend, hosting Maryville University on Friday, November 6, before welcoming Missouri S&T for Senior Day on Saturday, November 7.
First serve against Maryville is scheduled for 6 PM Friday at Pepsi Arena, while Saturday's regular-season finale against Missouri S&T is set for 3 PM.
Quincy enters the weekend at 17-10 overall and 4-7 in GLVC play.
The Hawks have been eliminated from postseason contention and will miss the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2019, ending a six-year run of conference tournament appearances.
Saturday will also serve as Senior Day, with Quincy honoring Amber Glen, Macey Rocco, Selin Turgut, Erin Matzke and Blaike Knolhoff before the final home match of the season.
Hawks Look to Finish Strong at Home
Quincy returns to Pepsi Arena after a difficult road weekend that ended its postseason hopes.
The Hawks dropped a five-set match at Upper Iowa before falling in four sets at Truman State.
Quincy had entered the weekend riding a five-match winning streak and still in position to make a late push up the GLVC standings, but the consecutive losses left the Hawks outside the eight-team tournament field.
The focus now shifts to finishing the season on a positive note and sending the senior class out with two strong performances in front of the home crowd.
Last Time Out
Quincy closed last weekend with a four-set loss at Truman State, falling 25-21, 25-14, 23-25 and 25-20. The Hawks hit .179 for the match while Truman State finished at .271.
Selin Turgut led Quincy with 16 kills while hitting .227 and added 17 digs. Aysem Kocaalp recorded 13 kills and 17 digs, while Erin Matzke remained highly efficient with nine kills on 19 attempts and just one error, hitting .421.
Macey Rocco distributed 41 assists and added 12 digs. Amber Glen finished with 20 digs.
Truman State created consistent pressure from the service line, recording 10 aces.
That followed a five-set loss at Upper Iowa one night earlier in which Quincy surrendered 11 service aces. The Hawks hit .183 against the Peacocks while holding Upper Iowa to .176.
Matzke finished with 12 kills while hitting .375, Monika Bíliková added 11 kills on a .391 percentage and Olivia Curry contributed 11 kills while hitting .269. Rocco recorded 47 assists and 17 digs, while Glen added 20 digs.
Game One: Maryville
Maryville enters Friday at 13-13 overall and 7-4 in GLVC play. The Saints have already clinched a spot in the GLVC Tournament for the fifth consecutive season.
Maryville has struggled away from home this season, entering Pepsi Arena with a 2-7 road record.
The Saints have won three straight matches, including conference victories over Southwest Baptist and Drury last weekend. Maryville swept Southwest Baptist before defeating Drury in four sets.
The Saints are led by head coach Gretchen Moser, who is in her ninth season with the program and holds a 107-143 record at Maryville. Maryville has reached at least 15 victories in each of the previous four seasons.
Maryville Extends Rallies
Maryville's strongest statistical area comes in its ability to keep points alive. The Saints rank second in the GLVC and 14th nationally with 17.93 digs per set.
Maryville also ranks third in the conference with 37.83 attacks per set, reflecting a team that consistently extends rallies and generates additional opportunities offensively.
That defensive persistence has helped the Saints overcome an offense that ranks around the middle of the conference in most major categories.
Maryville hits .205 as a team while averaging 12.21 kills per set. The Saints do allow opponents to hit .212, which could provide an important opening for Quincy.
The Hawks are 10-2 this season when hitting above .200. Maryville, meanwhile, is 2-13 when allowing opponents to hit better than .200 and 11-0 when keeping teams below that mark.
That makes offensive efficiency one of the clearest keys to Friday's matchup.
Serve Receive Could Favor Quincy
Quincy has struggled throughout the season when opponents generate significant service pressure.
The Hawks have now allowed double-digit aces in consecutive matches, surrendering 11 to Upper Iowa and 10 to Truman State.
Maryville, however, ranks near the bottom of the GLVC in serving. The Saints average just 1.46 aces per set, ranking 12th in the conference.
That could give Quincy an opportunity to settle into its offense more consistently if the Hawks can control first contact.
Maryville Players to Watch
Freshman outside hitter Emma Keele leads the Saints with 266 kills, averaging 2.56 per set while hitting .195. Keele is also second on the team with 35 service aces.
The freshman has not reached double-digit kills in her last six matches, but she remains one of Maryville's primary attacking options.
Junior outside hitter Ella Domian has emerged as one of the Saints' most efficient hitters. Domian has recorded 215 kills, averaging 2.42 per set while hitting .291.
She leads Maryville in kills during conference matches and enters the weekend coming off one of her best performances of the season.
Domian recorded a season-high 19 kills while hitting .405 against Drury.
Sophomore defensive specialist Mallory Sell anchors the Saints' back row. Sell leads the GLVC with 543 total digs and averages 5.07 per set, ranking fourth in the conference.
She has reached double-digit digs in every match this season and has recorded at least 20 digs 15 times. Sell is coming off a season-high 34-dig performance against Drury.
She also leads Maryville with 41 service aces.
Series History vs. Maryville
Quincy has controlled the series against Maryville since 2010, holding a 23-3 advantage.
The Hawks are a perfect 12-0 at home against the Saints during that span. Quincy has also won the last two meetings, both in straight sets.
Maryville's most recent victory over Quincy came in the 2023 GLVC Tournament, when the Saints snapped a 15-match Quincy winning streak in the series.
The Hawks will look to continue their home dominance Friday while also ending Maryville's current three-match winning streak.
Game Two: Missouri S&T
Quincy closes the regular season Saturday against Missouri S&T. The Miners enter the weekend at 13-12 overall and 3-8 in GLVC play.
Missouri S&T will play at Illinois Springfield on Friday before traveling to Quincy for Saturday's matchup.
Like Quincy, the Miners have been eliminated from postseason contention. Missouri S&T will miss the GLVC Tournament for the third consecutive season.
The Miners split two conference matches last weekend, falling to Drury in five sets before defeating Southwest Baptist in four.
Missouri S&T is led by first-year head coach Cooper Martin.
S&T Brings One of Nation's Best Blocks
The biggest challenge Missouri S&T presents comes at the net. The Miners lead the GLVC and rank 12th nationally with 2.47 blocks per set. Missouri S&T has recorded 227 total blocks, also the top mark in the conference.
The strength of the block extends beyond the team numbers.
Junior middle blocker Madison Smith leads the GLVC with 1.28 blocks per set and ranks 14th nationally. Her 115 total blocks also lead the conference and rank 10th in Division II.
Junior middle blocker Kate Zipprich gives S&T another strong presence at the net, ranking third in the GLVC with 1.11 blocks per set.
That creates a difficult matchup for a Quincy offense that will need to remain patient and efficient against one of the most physical front rows in the league.
Defense Drives the Miners
Missouri S&T's offense has been less consistent.
The Miners average 12.04 kills per set, ranking 11th in the GLVC, while their .190 team hitting percentage ranks 10th. Quincy has been highly successful when limiting opponents offensively.
The Hawks are 14-2 when holding teams below a .190 hitting percentage this season.
S&T counters with one of the better defensive efficiency marks in the conference. Opponents hit just .184 against the Miners, fourth-best in the GLVC. Quincy is 4-8 when hitting below .184 this season.
That sets up a matchup where offensive efficiency on both sides could be especially important.
Missouri S&T Players to Watch
Smith gives the Miners one of the league's premier blocking threats. Along with her 115 blocks, she has recorded 122 kills while averaging 1.36 per set and hitting .287.
Junior libero Adelyn Weiler leads the S&T back row. Weiler has collected 476 digs, averaging 5.17 per set. That average ranks second in the GLVC. She also carries a .949 reception percentage.
Sophomore right-side hitter Danielle Wilke leads the Miner attack. Wilke has recorded 239 kills, averaging 2.72 per set while hitting .211. She has also contributed 68 total blocks, giving S&T another strong blocking presence on the right side.
Series History vs. Missouri S&T
Quincy leads the series against Missouri S&T 14-12 dating back to 2007. The Hawks have won seven consecutive meetings.
Missouri S&T's most recent victory over Quincy came in a neutral-site matchup in 2021.
Quincy holds a 7-3 advantage at home against the Miners during the series. S&T has not won in Quincy since 2013.
Saturday gives the Hawks an opportunity to extend both streaks while closing the season with another victory over the Miners.
Senior Day
Before Saturday's regular-season finale, Quincy will recognize Amber Glen, Macey Rocco, Selin Turgut, Erin Matzke and Blaike Knolhoff as part of Senior Day festivities.
The group has played an important role in Quincy's recent success and will have an opportunity to finish its home career at Pepsi Arena.
Several members of the senior class remain among Quincy's statistical leaders entering the final weekend.
Rocco has recorded 950 assists this season while averaging 9.41 per set.
Matzke leads Quincy with a .344 hitting percentage, totaling 230 kills and 77 blocks.
Glen has collected 366 digs, averaging 3.73 per set.
Turgut has added 208 kills and 227 digs.
Saturday's match provides one final opportunity for the senior group to compete together on its home floor.
Matchup Outlook
With postseason hopes no longer in play, Quincy enters the final weekend focused on finishing the season with momentum.
Friday's matchup against Maryville presents an opportunity for the Hawks to take advantage of a Saints defense that allows opponents to hit .212.
Quincy's ability to remain efficient offensively while limiting Maryville's ability to extend rallies will be important.
The serving matchup could also benefit the Hawks against a Maryville team that ranks near the bottom of the conference in aces per set.
Saturday brings a much different challenge.
Missouri S&T's elite blocking ability will test Quincy's hitters throughout the afternoon, particularly around the net.
For the Hawks, finding ways to stay efficient against the Miner block while limiting an S&T offense that hits .190 could determine the outcome.
The weekend also carries added significance as Quincy closes the season at home and celebrates a five-member senior class.
The Hawks host Maryville at 6 PM Friday before welcoming Missouri S&T for Senior Day at 3 PM Saturday at Pepsi Arena.
