Hawks Head to Lincoln With GLVC Tournament Berth in Reach

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team hits the road Sunday, October 18, traveling to Jefferson City, Missouri, for a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup against Lincoln University. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 PM at Capital City High School.

Quincy enters the contest with a 6-3-6 overall record and a 6-2-4 mark in GLVC play after a dominant 7-0 victory over Upper Iowa on Wednesday.

Lincoln comes into Sunday at 3-9-1 overall and 2-8-1 in conference action following a 2-0 loss to Maryville. The Blue Tigers have dropped four consecutive matches.

With only two regular-season contests remaining, Quincy sits fifth in the GLVC standings with 22 points and enters Sunday with an opportunity to officially secure its place in the conference tournament while continuing its push for a top-four seed.

Last Time Out

Quincy delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Wednesday, defeating Upper Iowa 7-0 at Jack Mackenzie Field.

The victory marked the 400th win in program history and featured several individual milestones.

Jessie Newton broke Quincy's single-season assist record with her 14th of the year, Rebecca Rheinheimer reached 50 career points in a Quincy uniform, Daniella Segall scored her first goal since returning from injury and Dache Johnson made her 50th career appearance.

The Hawks controlled the match from the opening whistle, finishing with a 41-3 advantage in shots, a 22-3 edge in shots on goal and an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Newton opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before setting up Tori Nelson in the 39th to send Quincy into halftime ahead 2-0.

The Hawks exploded for five more goals after the break.

Rheinheimer scored in the 57th minute off another Newton assist before converting a penalty kick two minutes later to extend the lead to 4-0. Emily Richardson added the fifth goal in the 70th minute off an assist from Segall.

Newton then scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 76th minute, marking her first multi-goal performance in a Quincy uniform. Segall capped the scoring in the 81st minute off an assist from Nelson.

Rheinheimer finished with nine shots, including five on goal, while Newton recorded eight attempts and five on target. Segall added five shots, three on goal.

Goalkeeper Libby Kamp made three saves to preserve the shutout.

Newton and Rheinheimer Continue to Drive the Attack

Quincy enters Sunday with significant offensive momentum after its seven-goal performance.

Newton continues to serve as the primary creator for the Hawks. Her two assists against Upper Iowa moved her to 14 for the season, establishing a new Quincy single-season record. Newton has also added four goals and remains one of the most productive playmakers in the country.

Rheinheimer continues to lead the Hawks as a finisher.

The senior now has 12 goals this season after scoring twice Wednesday and has surpassed 50 career points in a Quincy uniform.

Together, Newton and Rheinheimer have helped give Quincy one of the most dangerous attacking combinations in the conference during the closing stretch of the regular season.

Conference Tournament Berth Within Reach

Sunday carries significant postseason implications for Quincy.

The Hawks enter fifth in the GLVC standings with 22 points, sitting just two behind fourth-place Maryville and three ahead of Rockhurst.

UMSL, Missouri S&T and McKendree have already secured spots in the GLVC Tournament. With only two matches remaining, Quincy needs just one point to guarantee its own place in the eight-team conference tournament field.

The Hawks also remain firmly in the race for a top-four seed.

A victory Sunday would move Quincy to 25 points and could push the Hawks into a hosting position depending on results elsewhere in the conference.

The top eight teams qualify for the GLVC Tournament, while the top four seeds host the opening round.

Following Sunday's matchup, Quincy will close the regular season on the road at Truman State.

Defense Continues to Set the Tone

While Quincy's offense erupted Wednesday, the Hawks have continued to rely on consistent defensive play throughout the season.

Quincy has allowed just 12 goals through 15 matches and has recorded another shutout after blanking Upper Iowa. Kamp has continued to settle into the goalkeeper role during the closing stretch and was rarely tested Wednesday, making all three saves she faced.

The Hawks will look to maintain that defensive form against a Lincoln team that has scored nine goals this season.

Scouting Lincoln

Lincoln enters Sunday at 3-9-1 overall and 2-8-1 in GLVC play.

The Blue Tigers are coming off a 2-0 loss to Maryville and have dropped four straight matches. Maryville scored in the 17th and 58th minutes Wednesday while finishing with a 23-3 advantage in shots.

All three Lincoln attempts were on goal.

Goalkeeper Kanon Dehama made six saves in the loss.

Lincoln has scored nine goals while allowing 23 this season and averages approximately 7.6 shots per match.

Mia Greathouse leads the Blue Tigers with three goals and an assist, while TeTee Jallah has scored twice. Dehama has played 720 minutes in goal and recorded 51 saves. Kristin Oliver has also seen significant time, making 21 saves across 450 minutes.

Lincoln is in its third season as a program after beginning competition in 2024. The Blue Tigers finished 1-10-4 overall and 1-10-3 in GLVC action last season.

Head coach Leah Stringer is also in her third season leading the program.

Sunday will serve as Senior Day for Lincoln, with the Blue Tigers recognizing their senior class prior to kickoff.

Series History

Since Lincoln began competition in 2024, Quincy is 2-0 against the Blue Tigers.

The Hawks earned a 4-2 road victory in Jefferson City last season.

Lincoln opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Marina Oberschmid equalized before halftime off an assist from Newton.

Quincy took its first lead after the break when Abbie Martin scored off another Newton assist. The Blue Tigers answered late, tying the match at 2-2 in the 82nd minute.

Quincy responded almost immediately.

Former Hawk Ella Wolfard scored approximately 90 seconds later to put the Hawks back in front before Rheinheimer added an insurance goal in the 89th minute.

Quincy finished with an 18-4 advantage in shots and a 13-4 edge in shots on goal, while also holding an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Devin Tracy made two saves in the victory.

Matchup Outlook

Quincy enters Sunday looking to carry the offensive confidence gained from Wednesday's record-setting performance into the final two matches of the regular season.

Newton and Rheinheimer continue to lead the attack, while the emergence of additional contributors such as Nelson, Richardson and Segall gives the Hawks several ways to create opportunities.

Lincoln will look to respond on its Senior Day and end a four-match losing streak, with Greathouse and Jallah serving as the primary attacking threats.

For Quincy, maintaining its defensive consistency while continuing to convert scoring chances could be enough to secure another important road result.

With one point guaranteeing a GLVC Tournament berth and a victory keeping the Hawks firmly in the race for a top-four seed, Sunday's matchup carries plenty of postseason significance.

Kickoff between Quincy and Lincoln is scheduled for 12 PM Sunday at Capital City High School in Jefferson City, Missouri.
